Underdog is one of 22 titles selected in the forthcoming Scandinavian Film Festival, which is screening nationally from the 8th of July. It’s a smorgasbord of films from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Other highlights are Bille August’s (Night Train To Lisbon) Silent Heart, which won a host of awards at this year’s Bodil Film Awards in Denmark; satire The Grump, Finland’s biggest home-grown hit last year; Icelandic film Rams, winner of the top prize in the Un Certain Regard section of the recent Cannes Film Festival; Best Film at the Stockholm Film Festival 2014, Young Sophie Bell; and closing night documentary Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words.

Since she was a girl, the great Swedish actress was in the habit of carrying a film camera with her to shoot the places and the people in her life. This documentary, completed in 2014 by historian and director Stig Björkman, makes full use of these family clips, as well as letters and diaries belonging to the actress.

Another highlight of the Festival is the visit of Swedish/Finnish actress, comedian and scriptwriter, Bianca Kronlöf, the star of Underdog, who will partake in Q&A’s after the Sydney and Melbourne screenings of her film.

So “Skol!” July looks like being a busy month.
